For those of us neat freaks out there that love gardening, but hate the mess, the upside down tomato planter is a true find. Now I am not talking about the mess that the soil creates, that is all part of the fun. What I am speaking of is the mess that tomato vines cause when they start to grow.
If you are going to grow tomato plants, you have to have a decent amount of space in order to do so. To grow any more than one in a limited space is just about impossible. The vines will stretch out everywhere and this is not even mentioning the amount of care that is needed in order to keep them growing upright and in good health.
Now I love tomatoes and use them in just about every dish I make from spring to fall, and more importantly, I love using fresh tomatoes. However, up until a few years ago, I was ready to give up on them because of the difficulty I was having in being able to keep my plants under control. Like most people, I work full time and while I love gardening, sometimes I just did not have it in me to go out there and take care of the tomato plants. This is of course the day that they decide to go mental on me and cause complete havoc.
The upside down tomato planter has changed all of that, and now growing tomatoes could not be easier or neater. If you have not yet tried one of these, you have no idea what you are missing out on. Simply put the plant in the bag and hang it upside down and you are done. The gravity keep the plants growing in the right direction and best of all, the rest of your garden is open for other planting.
Now, when we need a tomato, we just reach right outside the door and grab one off of the plant. The only real maintenance that we ever have to do is make sure that it gets watered on time. Oops, one thing I forgot to mention was the fact that these tomatoes are the best tomatoes that are garden has ever produced. Give it a try this year and you are going to be surprised at how easy the upside down tomato planter is to use and how incredible your tomatoes will look.
